The Opportunity
We are currently seeking an Insolvency Accountant at the level of supervisor or manager with strong technical and practical experience in personal insolvency. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional looking to step into a leadership role, managing files end-to-end while mentoring junior staff and contributing to the success of the firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently manage a portfolio of personal insolvency matters including bankruptcies, Part IX Debt Agreements, and Part X Personal Insolvency Agreements.
- Conduct investigations into financial affairs of debtors and liaise with creditors, lawyers, and regulators.
- Prepare detailed reports, proposals, and statutory documentation in compliance with legislative requirements (e.g., Bankruptcy Act, AFSA guidelines).
- Oversee the realisation of assets, creditor claims, and distribution processes.
- Support and guide junior staff, providing technical mentorship and reviewing their work.
- Maintain strong communication with stakeholders and ensure high standards of client service.
- Monitor statutory deadlines and ensure procedural compliance across all matters.
What We Are Looking For
- Minimum 3β4 yearsβ experience in personal insolvency administration.
- Strong technical knowledge of the Bankruptcy Act and personal insolvency procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to manage files autonomously from appointment to closure.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and mentor junior staff.
- Proficient in insolvency software (e.g. IPS, Insol6, MYOB AE) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Relevant qualifications in Accounting or Commerce; CA/CPA qualified or working towards (preferred but not essential).
