Antony is a Partner at DVT Mcleods and a driving force behind the firm’s restructuring and insolvency practice. With over 40 years of experience locally and internationally, he is known for delivering practical, commercially focused solutions to complex financial challenges, combining deep technical expertise with a strategic, hands-on approach. His influence is felt across the firm, where his leadership continues to fuel growth, shape direction, and strengthen the team through his ability to recognise and bring together the right people.
Background:
Antony began his career in South Africa, where he spent 18 years building deep expertise in insolvency and corporate recovery. He led Grant Thornton’s South African Insolvency Practice as Managing Director for a decade, following an earlier role at KPMG where he qualified as a Registered Liquidator and Trustee in Bankruptcy.
After migrating to Australia in 2003, Antony spent 6 years immersed in various commercial ventures, gaining valuable insight into the local business landscape. In 2009, he joined BRI Ferrier as a Director, became an equity partner in 2013, and remained in that role until 2015.
Antony joined dVT Group (now DVT Mcleods) in 2015 and became Partner in July 2017. Since then, he has played a pivotal role in the firm’s strategic growth, including leading efforts around key mergers and expanding its national presence. His leadership is marked by his ability to find the right people, bringing together some of the firm’s most respected minds and future leaders. His influence has helped shape the firm’s culture, strengthened its capabilities, and positioned it for long-term success. Antony is also the firm’s spokesperson, representing the firm in public and professional forums and reinforcing its reputation and voice in the industry.
Antony has managed numerous high-profile appointments. He has been appointed as Voluntary Administrator, Receiver and Liquidator to ASX-listed entities such as Mothercare and IQ Group; many appointments spanning retail, property, trucking, finance, and manufacturing, including national retail chains such as Dion Lee; complex property groups, and particularly Toplace. His technical proficiency spans complex insolvency matters, restructuring strategies, and turnaround projects across a wide range of industries, making him a trusted advisor to clients navigating financial distress.
He is also committed to giving back to the community, actively supporting various not-for-profit organisations on behalf of the firm, such as Inala Disability Services and the Salvation Army. His involvement reflects a broader dedication to social impact and community leadership.
Outside of work, Antony is a keen golfer and serves as a Director of St Michael’s Golf Club Ltd and Founding Director of St Michael’s Golf Foundation, further demonstrating his commitment to leadership and meaningful engagement within the community.
